KEYHOLE

EYE LEVEL’S SYMBOL IS THE FORM OF BOTH A KEYHOLE AND A CHILD, AND IT REPRESENTS EYE LEVEL’S CORE EDUCATION PRINCIPLES.

The most important definition of the keyhole is education from a child’s perspective. It is a window which students and instructors look through, imagine, and dream together. As the keyhole is located at the child’s eye level, the symbol also represents the story of a teacher who knelt down to see and understand children’s perspectives and attitudes. Eye Level’s keyhole also triggers children’s curiosity, leading them to imagine and create their own world and pursue their dreams for the future.

The keyhole stands for step-by-step study approach to learning, a process of learning basic skills and laying the foundation for infinite growth to the future. This is one of Eye Level’s educational principles. The line with four colors, Red, Yellow, Blue, and Green, represents Eye Level’s educational process, consisting of diagnostic/level testing, self-directed study, assessment, and feedback. The connection between the four colors illustrate not only the ongoing learning process but also the children’s limitless growth and development through Eye Level’s structured education.

I AM THE KEY.

EYE LEVEL EXPANDS CHILDREN’S PERSPECTIVES BY ENCOURAGING THEM TO BECOME SELF-MOTIVATED, INDEPENDENT, AND PROACTIVE LEARNERS.

An object that the keyhole brings to mind is a key – the key to growth, success, and future. The image of a key is missing in Eye Level’s identity because children themselves are the key. It explains that children are growing as self-directed beings who solve problems by themselves through Eye Level’s self-directed education.

Children will follow the self-directed learning method as well as develop independent learning skills. Eye Level instructors will also be next to them providing guidance as they move throughout their individualized program. At the end of the day, children will be independent, and proactive learners who are one step closer to their dreams.

PHILOSOPHY

“I was wondering how my students would enjoy the paintings from a student’s eye level.”

Eye Level is based on an educational principle where students learn at their own pace. When the instructor understands the learning needs of a student, the teaching are most effective.

This is a story about a teacher who changed his perspective. A man was appreciating the art at the Smithsonian Museum in Washington DC. As he approached each painting he would kneel down and look up at it. A curious visitor asked him why he was looking at the painting from his knees. He replied, “I am an elementary school teacher and I will bring my students here tomorrow. I was wondering how my students would enjoy the paintings from down here. I am trying to appreciate these paintings from a student’s eye level.”

PRIMARY

SYMBOL

Eye Level's symbol is the form of both a keyhole and a child, and represents Eye Level's core principles, such as education from the children's perspective and its step-by-step approach to learning. The four colors represent the flow that begins with the diagnostic test followed by students' self-directed learning, assessment, and Instructor's feedback. Such elements are connected and yet separated just like he four colors of the keyhole. However, this does not mean that each color correlates to a certain element; rather, it simply depicts the ongoing learning process.

LOGOTYPE / BRAND TAGLINE

The rounding on each edge of logotype gives a soft impression that goes along with the characteristics of children. The logotype can be used with the brand tagline which is aligned both center and flush-left.

LOGO_CONSTRUCTION

The Eye Level logo is a combination of the symbol and the specially designed, spaced out Eye Level lettering. For visibility, impact, and overall integrity, it is important to retain a consistent use of the logo. Always use the original and approved art without alteration. Do not attempt to draw or recreate the Eye Level lettering using computer fonts.

LOGO_MONOCHROME

The grayscale includes various patterns that represent colors and meanings of Eye Level. The essential purpose is to reproduce the logo clearly on all black and white materials.
Use the logo on the bottom on materials that require the logo to be 25 mm or smaller. It has a less dense pattern and will be more legible.

LOOKUP SYSTEM

The lockup, which consists of the symbol and the logotype, comes in several formats. When a certain lockup is used, the others cannot appear in the same dimension or media.

The tagline “I am the key.” cannot be replaced except for exterior signage and subject related materials.

LOCKUP SYSTEM _ SECONDARY TAGLINE

LOCKUP SYSTEM _ SUBJECT TAGLINE

SUBJECT BRAND

The full colored versions of the subject logotype must be placed on white backgrounds one by one. Two or more subjects are not recommended to be placed together.
The monochrome version of the subject logotype is used as one color on white backgrounds or as white on other colored backgrounds. The official font (ITC Avant Garde Gothic Std Bold) must be used and several subjects may be placed together.

INCORRECT USAGE

For visibility, impact, and overall integrity, it is important to retain a consistent use of the logo. Always reproduce the logo from the original artwork. Examples of improper logo usage are illustrated here.

COLOR SYSTEM

COLOR

It is important that the Eye Level colors are well used at the Eye Level Learning Centers.
The colors can be portrayed with products from various global vendors; however, should none of the global vendors be available in the area, the PANTONE color chips are to be used as reference when mixing up various colors.

COLOR _ BACKGROUND

Here are examples of the correct ways to use the Eye Level logo on a variety of backgrounds.
It is important to have adequate contrast between the mark and the background for optimal visibility. There are six suggested background colors: Black, Eye Level Red, Eye Level Green, Eye Level Blue, Eye Level Yellow, and Eye Level Gray. Grayscale versions should be Black on Eye Level Yellow and Grays under 50% brightness.

* Separation lines are not indicated when the grayscale symbol is used with the minimum size.

COLOR

The use of color is an important aspect of Eye Level's identity. The corporate colors, Eye Level Red, Eye Level Green, Eye Level Blue, and Eye Level Yellow, should be used for the space whenever possible.
The choice of color, when used on unfamiliar media, is at the discretion of the designer. He or she decides how to make the Eye Level Learning Center Space work best within the design of the media.

GRAPHIC MOTIF

ELEMENTS

The symbol is based on a square system and can be dissected into several sections, which may be flipped horizontally and vertically to create 4 graphic motifs per piece. Each coordinate is available in multiple digital formats. Isolated, each tile creates an exciting abstract formation – fromminimal to elaborate.

PATTERN

The tiles can be randomly shuffled and flipped to create variable patterns, large or small.
When reproducing the Eye Level pattern, use the official artwork. A random pattern has been created and is avaliable in any dimensions.

* When using two or more motifs on a single dimension, the size of all motifs must be the same.

AREA ON DOCUMENTS

The motif can be used in various formats. The following 5 examples will serve as reference to show where the motifs can be placed without being misused. The provided grids in the following pages should be used as basic formats and the ratio must be kept but some modifications may be made depending on the image and text used on the document.

AREA ON DOCUMENTS

Brochure or Poster

Motifs can take up the full page as provided but text must be limited to the logo, slogan, and titles or short messages for presentation files.

IMAGERY

OVERVIEW

Images are used as a medium to communicate the brand's message in an indirect way; however, often times they deliver much more than words. The Eye Level imagery can be categorized mainly into two, if not three subject areas: people (portrait vs. situational) and objects.
By adding certain details to such subject areas, Eye Level approaches each situation in a different style to communicate applicable messages. The said details, such as cropping and scaling images as well as using conceptual images are laid out in the following pages. Eye Level strongly advises that the right imagery be used for the right purpose. In order to better explain what the Eye Level imagery is, sample images are provided.

STYLE

By cropping the original image, an unexpected viewpoint is provided and allows the audience to imagine what's more out there.

Scaling the image adds impact and gives more of a dynamic feel to the message. The simple and clean touch well expresses the Eye Level's visual quality.

Placing the subjects in certain abstract but concept related situations delivers a clear message to the audience and requires less words.

SUBJECT

The main subjects are the Eye Level customers – children, usually in a single form; however, adults may appear as the collaborator or more children may be added to the picture. Portrait shots of such subjects should be used to show confidence and deliver clear messages.

In situational settings, characters are in action. Children are still the main subjects but adults may also appear to complete the picture. Such interactive or situational shots deliver a clear message of what Eye Level wishes to appeal and gives out a warm feeling at the same time.

Objects are not necessarily Eye Level products but parts of, if not the entire shot of, any related item in general. Items are related to any keyword of Eye Level, such as dream, grow, and etc., in addition to the education related terms.

SPACE

PICTOGRAM

Pictograms are categorized by characteristics to show in what situations they can be used. Each of them has its own meaning and therefore should be applied accordingly.

SPACE DESIGN _ OVERVIEW

Eye Level Learning Center Space Identity divides and regulates items into 3 categories, Mandatory, Optional, and Look & Feel, to enhance their application to the local environment. The regulations by these divisions must be kept and maintained to build unified images.

Materials and elements used in the interior can vary depending on the budget. One can choose the elements from the options, but can also choose the alternatives based on the surrounding environment and building regulations.
